During the initial service call to provide an estimate, we inspect your property in order to lay out our plan. Or maybe you’re completely ambivalent about the little guys. Whatever your feelings about bats might be, no one wants them living in their house! They’re noisy, they gradually create property damage, and their droppings may cause serious illness.
When you’ve got unwanted, winged houseguests, then you need only call Ivan’s Bat Control. We’re available from dawn until dusk seven days a week, and we are standing by to learn all about your bat problem. Once we’ve asked a few simple questions to get a better understanding of your situation, we will offer an approximate estimation for our services and then schedule the soonest time when we may meet at your home or place of business.
After the inspection, we’ll then proceed to remove every bat from your home or place of business – gently, because bats play a crucial role in Minnesota’s ecosystem. Once we’ve repaired your property so bats can no longer enter it, you’ll be happily bat-free!
Our Process
Inspection
Inspection. We perform a complete inspection of your property on arrival. This allows us to assess any challenges your building’s architecture may present, the size of the bat infestation, and which traps we should use. If bats are in your attic, then our inspection will include all of your home’s vents, siding, eaves, dormers, ridge caps, plumbing stacks, and any other structures that could grant access to an animal which is capable of squeezing through a crack as narrow as 1/4”.
Live Bait Exclusion
Once we have inspected your property, it’s time for the bats to go! We do not kill or harm bats when we permanently remove them from our clients’ properties. Instead, we trap them humanely or create one-way passages so they can exit a building on their own accord – but never return. Occasionally, we even pick up the little fellows by hand, but we always take care never to hurt them!
Repair
Once all the bats have been safely relocated, we methodically seal off every crack, gap, and any other opening a bat could squeeze through to prevent future infestations from taking place. Our goal during the repair phase isn’t just to lock out bats. We also want to make your home or place of business look as good as possible, which is why we employ high-quality construction materials and perform each repair with the utmost care.
Decontamination
This is an optional service because bats are not good houseguests, but can be rather expensive. They deposit droppings, urine, hair, nesting materials, and other debris wherever they’ve roosted – which unfortunately, in your case, was inside your home. Bat leavings may attract insects, and they can even grow a fungus called Histoplasmosis, which may cause serious respiratory disease which may cause serious respiratory disease, which attacks your immune system. When we decontaminate, we remove all droppings from the attic or other bat-affected area, and then we fog it with a special, sterilizing chemical.
